Carbon Credits & Carbon Markets

Carbon Green, LLC

Carbon Green is a leader in developing and managing high quality carbon credits. Focusing on renewable energy and biofuels we, together with our partners, are overseeing the creation of new protocols for these credits.

We are committed to advancing the market for alternative energy by helping our clients become highly efficient renewable fuel producers while minimizing their greenhouse gas emissions. We work with a wide array of biofuel producers, clean technology innovators and energy efficiency experts to maximize the profitability of these emerging industries.

Areas of Expertise

Carbon Credits & Carbon Markets

Essentially, large emitters of carbon are given a cap on their emission allowance. They must reduce emissions to a level equal to or below the cap. If they come in under their emission reduction target they are issued carbon credits.

Those who cannot meet their reduction goals must purchase credits in the carbon market and thus bring their emissions into compliance with the cap. This system is used on the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and by countries signatory to the Kyoto Protocol on the European Climate Exchange (ECX).

Emission Reduction Technology

Carbon Green partners with *innovators* in clean technology to promote sustainability and efficiency. With a focus on marketing new technologies to renewable fuel producers, Carbon Green brings cutting-edge energy solutions to its clients to reduce GHG emissions and add value by reducing energy costs.

New technologies for waste-heat recovery allow renewable energy producers to maximize profit through cost-cutting and monetization of environmental benefits of emission reductions. Carbon Green provides expert knowledge and strategic advising on emission reduction technology.

Fuel Switching

One of Carbon Green's primary goals is to create a competitive and lucrative market for biofuel producers. One method for achieving this goal is transitioning the current means of production to make biofuel production more efficient and profitable.

One way of increasing efficiency and developing carbon credits for biofuel producers is converting biofuel plants into advanced bio-refineries. This means that the energy the plant needs to produce its biofuel comes from a renewable energy source such as biomass boilers or wind turbines.

Partners

Carbon Green has business relationships with many different industry players including biofuel producers, technology experts, and other carbon offset providers.

SOFAME Technologies Inc. custom engineers and manufactures unique, high-efficiency direct-contact heat recovery and hot water heating systems. Sofame’s products extract up to 99% of heat from flue gases depending on the application, and also from wastewater, and return the energy in the form of high temperature hot water or pre-heated make-up air.

In addition to economically recovering heat from waste energy, Sofame’s products also help customers to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Using world leading patented green technology, the Company serves building owners, institutional, industrial and commercial markets through a network of dedicated engineering representatives.

Sofame Carbon

Sofame is one of the rare businesses in the industrial energy and construction markets which as its core business designs and manufactures a product that directly reduces greenhouse gas emissions in quantifiable and predictable ratios. Sofame Finance also gives Sofame a unique opportunity to keep ownership of carbon credits. Other contractual arrangements with end-users will allow Sofame to benefit from helping customers to engineer, certify and monetize the carbon credits resulting from a Sofame equipment sale.

In the United States, Sofame has been working with Carbon Green LLC of Chicago to package Sofame’s direct-contact technology with other efficiency programs as Carbon Green offers energy savings and carbon reduction to its customers in the bio-fuels industry. In addition to establishing and managing a Certified Carbon Credit program through the Chicago Climate Exchange, Carbon Green seeks to introduce its clients to new energy efficient technologies as they emerge.

“The 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy”

Local firms Carbon Green LLC, Honeywell’s UOP and Coskata are featured

Chicago, IL, December 22, 2008:

In a survey released today, Carbon Green LLC, UOP (a Honeywell Company) and Coskata were named among “The 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy” by Biofuels Digest, the world’s most widely read biofuels daily. The Biofuels Digest highly-regarded ranking recognizes innovation and achievement in bioenergy development. The inclusion of these local firms in “The Hottest Company” list underscores Chicago’s growing influence as the intellectual center and breeding ground for advanced ag-to-energy solutions.

“We’re proud to be recognized for our innovative efforts on behalf of our clients,” stated Jim Murphy, President of Carbon Green. “Over the past several years we have established ourselves as an industry leader, working at the nexus of carbon, bioenergy and energy efficiency. It’s rewarding to see that work acknowledged in this ranking.”

Carbon Green is working with clients to develop alternative transportation fuels as well as energy derived from biomass and waste products. One of these technologies is SOFAME's direct-contact waste heat recovery system. Carbon Green was also successful in creating the first carbon credits in North America for GHG emission reductions on behalf of a biofuel producer.

Other companies in the “50 Hottest” include Poet, Petrobras and DuPont Danisco.
