You are making the fatal assumption that the only measure of an employee's performance. There is a lot of good and extremely productive work that benefited the shareholders that took place after 2004. Fine examples of this performance are the design and release of the Core, Core 2 Duo and i7 architectures.

Absent the extraordinary global market collapse, Intel would have increased its share value. It is hard to measure quantitatively but the excellent Intel certainly caused Intel to retain more of its value than than market indexes as was previously mentioned.
