"Wave helps fill a critical requirement for trusted computing services," said Michelle Johnston, acting director of marketing for Intel Desktop Board Operations. "We believe the EMBASSY® Trust Suite software will provide good value for our customers looking for trusted computing applications."

"The increasing availability of products from TCG members, such as Wave Systems, means that users benefit from increased security on their PCs now and in the near future," said Nancy Sumrall, chairman, TCG marketing work group

Nancy Sumrall, who is also the Safer Computing Initiative Manager of the desktop division at Intel.

"Wave has been working closely with Intel on the development of application and service solutions," said Brian Berger, senior vice president, Global Business Development, Wave Systems.

Currently IBM, HP and Intel are shipping products that comply with the initial specification of the Trusted Platform Module on a limited number of products. This initial specification largely came from the predecessor of TCG, called TCPA or Trusted Computing Platform Alliance.

Both Microsoft and Intel have initiatives that dovetail with this one. From Microsoft it is called NGSCB for Next-Generation Secure Computing Base and from Intel it is called LaGrande and both need to be in place for the firms to hit their design goals for the next generation of the personal computer, due in late 2005.

Several other players are actively working to make this all come together and work. Two stand out: Wave Systems provides much of the enabling software solutions and developer technology for the trusted environment and Phoenix Technology is developing a next generation BIOS that will help ensure that, even before a system boots, trust is established.

"Products such as those demonstrated by Wave Systems represent a wide variety of new security options for computer users," said Nancy Sumrall, chairman, TCG marketing work group. "With many of these services, applications, and systems now available, IT managers can improve security of sensitive data."

"As more and more trusted platforms are operating in enterprises, the importance of key back up and recovery solutions becomes more critical to users. Valuable personal computer data can be lost forever if keys are not properly archived. The availability of new applications like Key Transfer Manager that are designed to address this need make trusted computing an even more compelling choice for enterprise PC users," said Nancy Sumrall, chairman, TCG marketing work group.
