Telecom companies shares mixed at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) --
Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc rose $.39 or 1.7 percent, to $23.58.
Qwest rose $.03 or .9 percent, to $3.50.
Sprint Nextel fell $.03 or .9 percent, to $3.22.
Verizon rose $.82 or 2.9 percent, to $28.81.
