I've been posting sporadically since sometime in September, I think. Woke up from a coma about 6 weeks after the fire; couldn't walk, couldn't talk, and couldn't swallow. But the therapists were great, and I was talking and swallowing quickly...before I got released. Walking well took longer, but all is good now. I've been working part-time for 3-4 weeks; even though I don't have all my strength back, I can pretty much do whatever I need on the job.
Family is great. They were, of course, worried sick pretty much the whole time I was unconscious. But once I woke up, my recovery sorta took off, zoom, zoom...so everybody got happy, quick.
The biggest problem since getting out has been dealing with crooked mortgage companies, water/fire damage companies, insurance, etc, etc. I will lose the family home that my father built--but I will be able to start over, in a smaller place.
All in all, I get another swing at bat, and support from family and friends has been phenomenal--very humbling. So...basically I'm thrilled with the result and happy to be here. :->
Thanks for asking...
best,
tex
