A123 battery manufacturer filed to IPO

GM vice chairman Bob Lutz recently stated they have decided on the manufacturer for the Volt and will announce by the end of the year,between a123 and lg chem.

Even though it looks as if HEV isnt included(not positive they're excluded) in the running for the Volt,i also have read that GM intends on getting into the battery action itself.(below)

In a shocker of a statement the article goes on to imply that afterward, GM, “because it believes that electrics will play a large part in the future of the car, it is now bringing battery technology in-house. ”

Today GM’s advanced battery director Denise Gray..."Not only are the developments underway in making the Volt packs important for that car, but will indeed pave the way for a future battery "dynasty" at GM."

Coupling this info, with the statements made in the recent HEV press releases (below) makes me think possible GM partner/buyout. Any thoughts??
