Update On Production! 30-Jun-08 07:42 pm Hi everyone, I am the one that originally posted the number to the Pond creek mine. I don't post on a regular basis, and am long Qmnm!
Today I decided to do a little more digging and this is what I was able to dig up!
I had a nice conversation with a gentleman that lives down the road from the mine, last name Preece, he's on Slaters Branch rd.
He's been a coal miner for the last 35 years. The current outfit (White Star) has looked to him for advice as he has been involved with the Pond Creek mine for the last 30 years. He is talking with them daily and He is helping them all he can to get into production.
He stated "They are about ready to run coal"!
From what he could see on the mine map, they have a few days to a week or more of taking rock down and will be in the higher coal and ready to start production!
They have done a lot of work and just went and under rocked for about six or eight breaks and had to take a bunch of rock down. They are now in 40 inch of coal and have made their belt move. Says that "They are in a good block of coal".
He also said that this is an entirely different world, with the price of met coal being what it is today, they wont be stopped until they get to the coal. Others have failed, but this time he is certain they will be successful!
In addition to all this good news! He said they have a lot of coal under lease. Their is another seam that has yet to be mined and if they get that going look out!
One final note, I have no reason to lie, I am not a pumper and am hoping just as everyone else is that they get production going soon. I recorded this call and also have his number as well. He is an older man, so dont want to give out his number.
