"... Plan A never works, and Plan B never fails. Therefore, I am expecting the usual costly damage limitation exercise bill to be picked up by the OEM’’s, who will rue the day they held out for another round of warm beer."

Great line, Bird. I used to worry more about the 800lb gorilla issue, but TMTA's Japanese OEM strategy appears to finally be gaining traction. As our OEMs create truly mobile (not merely transportable) products that US and European customers want to buy, INTC's grip on US OEMs should loosen. I am hoping for a new offering from Toshiba in competition with the Fujitsu Ps.

I was intrigued by your references to the Internet as the "universal hub" and RLX's/TMTA's role in same, but not sure I follow. Could you develop that a little more if you get a few minutes.

Does UK TV get the new MS commercial for .Net featuring a Tablet PC? It is running a lot over here. Takes place in an auto showroom, with a couple ordering a new car and the salesman noting on his Tablet PC the various options to be included in the delivered product. The scene switches to the assembly line, where robot paint sprayers are applying the paint to the ordered vehicle as the customers are finally agreeing that red it is. MS may be a little fuzzy on how it sees the Tablet PC playing out in the consumer realm, but I think they have a pretty clear vision for Tablet PCs in vertical markets. That market should be huge. Am surprised by the latest hints that the enabling release of XP will be delayed until late '02. Would have thought that was priority one with the "Chief Software Engineer" or whatever title BGates holds these days.
