My thought on the length of the process is
a little different than Telmex playing "hardball" as you say..However they will try and get what they want as cheaply as they can..Onev will counter with the knowledge of how much they want the tech..How many users will get to use it..and how it will help to retain customers..Also:
Onev has now met with Telmex several times over the last(TWO) months since Telmex said they wanted Iris..DA and more and wanted to license all of it..I believe that Onev and Telmex are determining just who in the long run will get what features and what those features are worth..As Ugo said awhile back..The Telmex deal has been very fluid from the start..it still is..Telmex is huge and covers not just all of Mexico but other Latin American countries as well..As I said before..every time Telmex ads a new service they must get permission from the Mexico regulatory commission..How can you negotiate a total deal while Telmex seeks permission for the likes of DA..to not only residential but to telephone booths and businesses..Telmex received permission for Iris for all of Mexico earlier this year..After saying all that..from what I have heard from both Onev and Cervelle is that the process of negotiating is just about finished..Iris F is right..in that the new laws on portability which was brought up before here..come into effect in July..Telmex would like to move forward as quickly as the can on this deal because of that law taking place..They would like to keep as many users as they can and adding features always help..Certainly if those features are a cost savings measure for their customers..Again the discussion about current users including DSL are also being negotiated into the total contract revenue wise...veno
