There are a couple of aspects that play into this patnership:

- Support of hardware and non-hardware enabled encryption in an enterprise environment using one common management console. As enterprises face the dilemma of having a mix of legacy systems and TPM/FDE enabled systems the need for a common management console is evident.

- The SafeNet/Wave partnership allows addressing and selling a mixed environment of encryption tools. For Wave - and the enterprise - it makes it easier to sell/integrate Seagate FDEs as the customer can easily integrate existing legacy machines with software encryption - and TPM - with new generation hardware based encryption.

- Software encryption folks know very well that their days are counted.
