Entegris Q2 earns, sales rise, top expectations (7:17 AM ET) NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Entegris(ENTG: news, chart, profile)reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $5 million, or 7 cents a share, up from a penny a share in the same period a year ago, helped by a 2.2 percentage point increase in gross margins to 43.5 percent. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had been expecting earnings of a nickel a share, on average. Sales for the quarter ending February rose 46 percent to $80 million, ahead of analyst estimates of $75.4 million, as strength in the semiconductor market gained momentum. Looking ahead, the chip equipment maker expects third-quarter revenue to grow 10 to 12 percent sequentially, or to about $88 million to $89.6 million, which is above current analyst projections of $83.5 million. The stock closed Wednesday up 49 cents at $11.93.
