viruses, unlike bacteria, each have a unique protein coating that "fits" like a jigsaw puzzle piece into the mip (molecular imprinted polymer), triggering an instant color change in the detecting medium. a mip would be programed/targeted for each specific virus. the beauty is in the simplicity and speed of the test.

so in my mind, HIV, HPV (human papiloma virus/genital warts), hepatitis, herpes, and viruses that cause cancers should be able to be detected instantly by something as simple as a "litmus" type test! i have just emailed bob jones to see if this is indeed in the realm of possibilities here, and encourage them to drop everything else to develop this test.

this is indeed a bombshell of an application and the possibilities must be enormous. and so far it's our little secret! i'll be sure to let you know what bob jones has to say.
