The Maxtor solutions (now part of Seagate) are pretty solid devices at a fair price (get one of the Shared Storage II not version I). Both come with PC/Mac backup software included (not sure how many licenses are included?) Once this device is configured, you can use the Microsoft sync to keep files up to date.

The difference between the two models is that the Dual (1TB - ~$425) version has 2 disks (2x500GB) which can configured as 1 big drive (1TB) or to mirror each other so that the device will continue to work if one of the drives goes bad (you get 500GB for storage) I would only buy this version if you want the mirroring (RAID1)

The single drive version (500GB - ~$200)
