Wrong. Firstly, there have been a few recruits accepted who would not have met standards of a few years ago, that is not indicative of the bulk of our recruits. In fact, so called high value recruits (those who score highest on AFQT tests) have actually increased.

As for how much rest troops need and require between deployments, I would leave that to the military. Frankly, I don't think Democrats in congress are in any position to determine this. Their aim in legislating such restrictions is to make it impossible for the military to maintain adequate fighting forces in Iraq. There is a growing danger for the Democrats, that they will be unable to assure our defeat in Iraq. They have invested a great deal of political capital to giving up in Iraq. Will it pay off? Possibly, but only if we fail, and they are doing all they can to assure that, that is exactly what happens. That plays well to the netroots, but it may backfire with independents.
