Question: Is iHub going to provide such a private board to subscribers or not?

Don't know yet. If so, not soon. Too many higher priorities at the moment.

The question is whether iHub is flexible enough to treat this request as a business decision rather that a philosophical one.

Philosophical considerations come before business considerations. We're not a "we'll do anything for money" kind of business.

Philosophically, I'm opposed to the idea of private, invitation-only boards, but feel that my concerns can probably be appropriately addressed with the appropriate disclaimers everyone would have to agree to before participating in such boards.

Then there's also the "entitlement" issue. I'd checked before and found that most people would feel entitled to avail themselves of such a feature free of charge, which sure isn't a good way to run a business and to justify the programming and the specific use of our platform.

The question is whether iHub wants to accommodate their customers or not.

Not all of them. If customers want free realtime quotes and charts, we can't accommodate them. If they want to be able to cuss and engage in personal attacks, we won't accommodate them. Those are extreme examples, but should serve to point out that we can't work under a blanket policy of accommodating our customers' every whim.

That said, I think the odds that I'll implement a "private board" feature are no worse than 50/50 at this point, although it'll cost, and I seriously doubt enough people will pony up for it to make it worth the work and problems.
