"think it's comical of you to let a free for all go on this weekend"

everyone here has accepted the loose rules and been honorable the year this thread has been open. I certainly felt it appropriate to have a free for all happen for a limited time. The downside is resentment over differences of opinions carrying over into next week and the three thread monitors will control the board discussion and I think we will do fine, but the resentment will of course exist anyway.

I do think its all healthy anyway. I don't expect folks to agree with me, but some folks think a world where everyone agrees with them is the best one. I think that is crap. Therefore, I think its great diesel says what he says and syl says what he says, and I can talk about the chicks I banged in college in England. If that offended anyone they should know the girls were not taken advantage of in anyway, and all seemed happy

I wasn't there to dodge the draft, by the way.

Let me say a couple things about politics here. I think the way our system is incredible, truly incredible. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I have criticism of nearly everyone, because I know what assholes most of them truly are. Its all about special interests, power, and money. Don't kid yourself about it. The only ones I respect are the ones that actually believe in something, even if it is different than what I believe. Here in Washington State, I voted for Mike Lowery for Gov years ago, and he was more liberal than Syl. I am not kidding about this. He believed in it and did everything he could to advance his beliefs and he was a quite good preson, although he was cheating on his wife getting bj's in the parking lot of a pub in downtown Olympia on St. Pattys day.and other days. Or so the rumor is........

The thing was, we had a legislative make up at the time that made it safe for me to go with him. If both houses were ultra liberal at the time, I would not have voted for him. FOR SURE.

Our present Gov here, a man named Gary Locke, d,, well the things I have to say about him would make Syl feelings about GWB look like love. Even the liberals hate him now. He has had enormous poewer for more than a decade and screwed this state up horribly besides being a less than honest man...oh boy say it again...just imho

I voted for Clinton in 92 and against him in 96. I had a specific reason for voting for him in 92. The US Supreme court was about to get lopsided with too may conservatives. Imho, there is NOTHING more critical to our system than have a SLIGHTLY LEFT leaning Supreme court. The implications of everything being state driven are unhealthy for the Republic.

When I vote this November, I will be leaning toward Bush, but there are three US Justices ready to retire. Its quite a pickle. I want a liberal in when its time to replace those folks. But it can't be John Kerry. While some of Bush's court nominations have been very conservative, many of them have not been, and his dad's were balanced; Thomas formed a solid block with Scalia but Souter has gone the other way.

I believe in a womans right to choose, the death penalty, the right to bear arms, and think prostitution should be legal. I don't trust the feds with our money at all. But believe in maintaining military power. It seems built up enough, again, by the way. I frequently vote with the Unions, but if it screws up balance, I will vote against things I believe in.

Its a pretty convoluted position frankly.

IMHO, the perfect balance for our republic is a split party congress, with either party pres(vote for the actually best human),and a left leaning us supreme court. We almost have that now, but I'd like to see the court very slightly more liberal, and clearly not go the other way

I am about as close to a liberatarian as one can get
