Rip off is an expression...it's a sucker bet...if they want to bet money, put it in the market rather than on a bet you cannot win, regardless.

It reminds me of the story of a sales manager that had a contest for his sales team. He bet each of his seven salesman a case of golf balls that they wouldn't win the sales contest. LOL He lost one of those bets and won six. Not a bad deal for him.
