Paris Hilton Prosecutor Under Fire: Used Employees for Babysitting

The tough guy prosecutor that demanded that Paris Hilton be taken off the streets is under fire again. The latest allegation against Rocky Delgadillo is that he used city employees to baby-sit his children. It also was revealed that Delgadillo periodically called his staff members to run personal errands. He defended his actions, saying his employees had done those favors on their personal time.

Maybe Paris should have volunteered to baby-sit. During the Paris trial, Rocky Delgadillo talked tough and suggested to the judge that the hotel heiress should spend more time in jail for driving with a suspended license and violating her probation in connection to her alcohol-related reckless driving charges.

He doesn't believe that for him or his wife, though. On Monday, he apologized for keeping quiet about a 2004 accident in which his wife crashed his city-issued vehicle while driving with a suspended license. He had initially let taxpayers pay for the $1,222 repair job, but after the matter became public he decided to reimburse the city.

Michelle Delgadillo told KABC-TV that she blamed her poor driving record and organization skills for her problems. "I was disorganized," she told the TV station. "I was - there's no excuse for it. I'm not going to make excuses for myself. I have to be an organized person, there's no doubt about it. I made a mistake." Now why isn't she in jail?

What a mess? CBS News reports that the couple faced further scrutiny when the Times reported Michelle Delgadillo had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court in connection to a 1998 traffic citation. She went to court that same day and pleaded no contest to driving without a valid license. She was ordered to serve a year of probation and to pay $431 fines and penalties.

"I'm not a good driver," she said. "I didn't resolve the matter quickly. I'm really embarrassed about it." She's embarrassed because she got caught.

Oh- there's more. Two separate inquiries have been launched that will examine the use of city resources for personal reasons by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. On Thursday, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley sent a letter to California Attorney General Jerry Brown, saying he would refer any allegations of wrongdoing against Delgadillo to his office for consideration.

Cooley recused his office because of a potential conflict. Delgadillo has been rumored to possibly run against Cooley for the district attorney's job.
