ViewCast's Niagara(R) PowerStream(TM) Pro Provides Powerful Turnkey Encoding Solution for LifeChurch.tv
Tuesday June 19, 4:08 pm ET

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ViewCast Corporation (OTCBB:VCST - News), a leading global provider of high-quality audio and video communication products, today announced that Oklahoma City, Okla.-based LifeChurch.tv is using the Niagara® PowerStream(TM) Pro video capture and streaming media encoder to encode live Webcasts, including three weekly services for its Internet Campus, and to encode various media presentations for video-on-demand (VOD) programs.

"The PowerStream Pro is an encoding workhorse that allows us to break down geographic barriers to communicate the gospel," said Bobby Gruenewald, pastor and innovation leader at LifeChurch.tv. "It's a turnkey solution that's been easy to manage and maintain. It also gives us the power to provide multiple live channels at once, so we have flexibility in giving Internet Campus members a choice of different music styles during worship services. We feel we've barely tapped into the PowerStream Pro's capabilities, and we're looking at additional ways we can leverage the system within our operations."

LifeChurch.tv meets in nine U.S. locations and over the Web through its Internet Campus, which allows people across the globe to participate in live services and become a part of the LifeChurch.tv community, both locally and globally. Every LifeChurch.tv location shares the same dynamic worship experience, thanks to video and satellite links among campuses, but each features a unique character through its own personal touches, such as a campus pastor, a live band, and a worship pastor to lead worship. ViewCast's PowerStream Pro is used to encode multiple Windows Media® Player 9 video streams for viewing by Internet Campus members. Designed specifically for the Internet, these streamed worship events bring together campus music and teaching pieces with other segments designed specifically for people watching online.

LifeChurch.tv also uses the PowerStream Pro to make teaching and worship segments available on demand, and to share critical information and messages among campus staff over its internal network. The software suite accompanying the PowerStream Pro controls both the new encoder and backup encoders equipped with ViewCast® Osprey® capture cards, which the church used previously for encoding and was able to integrate easily into its new encoding workflow. Future plans for the system include expansion of LifeChurch.tv streams to multiple formats for greater accessibility to church members.

The Niagara PowerStream Pro is a 2-U, two-channel, rack-mount streaming media encoder with front-panel user controls and status displays. Its appliance-like design provides ease of use, and its front-panel video display offers simple confidence monitoring capability. The encoder outputs Windows Media and RealVideo streams and files as well as AVI and Flash® files. The entire configure, connect, capture, and stream process takes just minutes.

ViewCast recently announced the successor to Niagara PowerStream Pro, Niagara Pro, which can deliver two channels of full D1 high-quality streaming video. More information about Niagara Pro and other ViewCast products is available online at www.viewcast.com.
