Critical Gets FDA OK for Zyflo Asthma Drug
LEXINGTON, Mass. (AP) -- Critical Therapeutics Inc. said Thursday it received regulatory approval for its Zyflo CR tablets to treat chronic asthma, putting the biotechnology company on track to begin selling the drug in the United States in fall.
The Food and Drug Administration approved Zyflo to treat chronic asthma in people age 12 years and older.
Critical developed the drug with Dey LP, a unit of Germany's Merck KGaA, and the two have a combined sales force for the drug of 240 people.
The company did not forecast the expected market for the drug.
