I agree that it is frustrating. I used to practically lose my mind over it, but I've kind of gotten used to just adding some time on to expected deadlines.

It probably is related to being a Wildcatter. I think you have to be super-optimistic to go out drilling holes in th emiddle of nowhere with expectations of finding a motherlode. I think the expectations he gives us are ones he really believes at the time because he's seing the glass half full(or more like 80% full).
