Cosmo, what a great thread for those of us who appreciate art. I have it book marked now.
I’m currently reading a book on Childe Hassam by Warren Adelson. The more that I learn about Childe Hassam and see his body of work, the more that I come to recognize his important and significant contribution to American art near the turn-of the-century. I am drawn to the movement of Impressionism in general, and really appreciate the work of the American Ten in particular.
If I were to pick a series of Hassam's that I find particularly appealing, it would have to be the Isles of Shoals. This series of paintings with the colors, patterns and textures all come together and achieve a very pleasing visual harmony. I was able to see a couple of these pieces at the Portland Art Museum recently and they are really spectacular.
