Because that is what the company claims…..

"what makes you think EDIG is designing the physical player...I would think FT is doing that......isn't EDIG just supplying the software?"

I can only go by the company's official SEC filings:

"In March 2002, we announced that we had entered into a Development and
Manufacturing Agreement with Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten ("Eclipse"), a car stereo
company. Under the agreement, e.Digital receives non-recurring engineering
("NRE") fees for design and development services, as well as revenues for the
manufacture and delivery of Eclipse-branded audio products."

Now a couple of days ago, Todd expressed his opinion that EDIG has in the past embellished their role in previous relationships to make their role seem larger than it really was, but if EDIG claims they are providing design services to F-T in the official SC filings, I have to believe them.
