Market Chatter: Nvidia-Backed Perplexity in Talks for $500 Million Funding Round

02:26 PM EDT, 05/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia (NVDA)-backed Perplexity is in talks with investors for a funding round expected to total $500 million that would value the company at around $14 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people close to the matter.
The planned funding round is expected to be led by venture capital firm Accel. Perplexity, which provides an AI-powered search tool, was valued at around $9 billion in November, the report said.
Pursuant to the round, Accel's partner, Sameer Gandhi, would be appointed to Perplexity's board, according to the people quoted in the report.
Nvidia, Perplexity and Accel didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
