I've found that what alerts/impacts MM's playing those games is when investors put a sell order in for all their shares, all or none, at some crazy sounding high price.

Sometimes i do a 60 day sell or Good Till Cancelled. For this ticker, i might soon be locking up my shares in a sell order, all or none, for something over $60 / share. My thinking is that the existing sell order removes my shares from consideration as being played for vapor/short shares.

Anyone else ever heard of doing that? I forget where i read about doing it. If 400 million shares were available to be bought, but only over $60 per share n the mm's suddenly needed 150 milly shares... somebody could see a payday crazy fast.
