Forgive me for speaking against your idea of how to lock your shares against shorting, but that idea doesn't work. In order to short a stock -- and you can talk to ANY broker and they will tell you the same thing -- you have to borrow from the stock you are trying to short, and if there aren't any shares to to borrow in order to short, then you can't short that stock, plain and simple. I was trying to short another stock that I'm invested in and a Schwab broker told me that it's impossible to do because there weren't enough shares left to borrow in order to short. Locking your shares the way you are telling investors to do isn't the way you do it. Sorry.
