OFC 2023 review

I think it’s Time to keep focused.

Let’s use this lull to keep doing our research and due diligence to cement why Poet will lead the the industry as a Chiplet, photonic integration, Direct drive (no DSP), and light source provider.

My highlights are noted at these minute marks:

5:00 mentions AI is data heavy
6:00 power consumption is new key metric pj/bit which is why integrated photonics is key

8:00 mentions CPO is still vulnerable because if one fiber goes down it’s goodbye Charlie to the whole board

10:00 heterogenous integration (thx Suresh)

17:00 peer consumption was the most important topic according to Jose Pozo

18:30 Chiplets very important and teend to follow (as Suresh has previously said)

18:50 integration is the most important thing in the photonics community (Suresh has said this for years)

19:30 major trend is for wdm products (multiplexing) Suresh designs all his products this way (fr4)

21:00 Arista’s direct drive (linear drive) solution with a slide showing how the interposer can help (Suresh first mentioned this at the synopsis conference in Oct 2022)

24:50 talks about AI, each solution needs a light engine! (Where have we heard that before? Suresh!)

25:35 see whose driving the AI light engine business (all the hyper scalers) glass wafers will lead the way for ar/vr it they still don’t have a proper light engine! (They need to talk to Suresh!)

28:00 See the Chart showing how this is a multi Billion even Trillions of dollars generated vertically!

50:00 Heres a bonus! The speaker from Fraunhofer says that one of our already known suppliers (open the link and hear it for yourself) should lead the way in this revolution, hopefully Suresh can make this happen since they already love our work.

It’s awesome how we can take a 4 day conference reduced to a few key data points Into less that an hour (unless you’re a real techno, I would skip from the end of Jose Pozo’s presentation to the 50 minute mark and save a half hour to play pickle ball with Allwillbewave lol)

Bottom line, if you’ve followed Suresh, he told us about almost everything we’ve just reviewed here from the OFC.

Let’s just hang in there and let the man do his work, he’s continued to tell us it’s hard to change the established culture, but once he does, it’s going to be amazing.
