Lol. I can explain the Bots . Google "Twitter posting software". They work. Take your choice.. What's hard to explain is why twitter approves so many bogus accounts with nothing more than an email verification. If you take the time, you can get as many twitter accounts as you want and you can spam post anything you want by compiling a list of random postings with ### as many hash tags as you like and build a following the size of Musk if you so desire.

If you read that report - response Twitter just stated that their verification process basically amounts to Log ins or is "otherwise authenticated"., doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Automated spam posting software ( available online) will automatically log you in and post pretty much as many times a day as you want.

As far as the "otherwise authenticated" that remains to be seen. Unless they're collecting IP addresses or storing cookies on individual devices or have some way to count individual devices that log in, I'm not sure what ""otherwise authenticated" but IP addresses are as free these days as Twitter spam posting software..

They couldn't possibly mean that because, as we all know, the vast majority of the people that are signed up for Twitter do NOT have the Twitter "AUTHENTICATED"" seal of approval on their account Meaning nearly all basically went through an email sign up process if at all. It's too easy.

The problem is, if Twitter actually verified ALL of the accounts that are used on the site, then it would likely shut down because, according to their own stats I saw posted online a week or so back, only 10% of the accounts are "verified" with the Twitter seal of approval.. Think about that. 90% of the people that are using twitter RIGHT NOW, could very well NOT be who they say they are because there is no real sign up process for twitter. That's what Twitter users rely on. The fact that people can post anonymously. Anonymity IS why TWITTER EXIST.
Anyone that's being truthful knows that. Look at all the ""people - accounts"" that post about stocks. Do you think MOST of those are real? Heck naw..
(imo).

If they're relying near wholely on the login verification process to verify or authenticate users, then that defense has already failed. All of that software you see online, is used by thousands of people with X, XX , XXX accounts that are spam posting whatever it is they like to spam post.

I just want to see the science - authentication process they use that allows all of those BOTS to post using all of that twitter posting software, what they mean by ""Otherwise authenticated"..

From Twitters response:
When an account logs in or is otherwise authenticated on Twitter on any given day through twitter.com, Twitter applications that are able to show ads, or paid Twitter products, including subscriptions.
?
Average mDAU for a period represents the number of mDAU on each day of such period divided by the number of days for such period. Changes in mDAU are a measure of changes in the size of our daily “logged in” or otherwise authenticated active total accounts.
