In his later years, George Carlin talked about how he had largely disengaging from the world, and came to look at things with detached amusement as an impartial spectator. I guess when it comes to humanity, things have always been, and will always be, screwed up and dysfunctional. It was a miracle we didn't destroy ourselves during the Cold War. Now we have computerized everything, AI, genomics, but still the same beast-like humans, the aspect that will never change. So, try to 'make the best of things' is the logical conclusion.
