This is just another clue that shows that there is a MAJOR problem with breeding consistency.

Silkworms lay about 400 eggs.

If you start with 100,000 eggs, you would just need to put aside < 1% (1000 worms) to end up with sustainability.

So the fact that they have to ship eggs constantly shows that there is a MAJOR problem.
