I would ask that you change your reasoning...it’s my experience that we physicians, as human beings and because of human nature...provide even more diligent care in circumstances where we may be uncomfortable. Not necessarily better care...but we may spend more time with the person that might have made us otherwise uncomfortable to be sure they don’t come back to bite us in the ass. My wife was very sick some years ago after c section and the general surgeon...who was also a lawyer...I’m not making this up...happened to be on call that night and he drove in and was praying that this ER doctors wife who needed surgery was not MY WIFE...as he had once called me a douche bag in my small ER at the time....as it turned out...he met me at the bedside and I honestly believe had it not been for him my wife would have had a much worse outcome.
