Joe Biden Goes Into Rage At HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra
May 15, 2021

The Democrat Party and the media have painted a portrait of Joe Biden as a kindly older gentleman, in contrast to their portrayal of Donald Trump as a brash loudmouth.

But as it happens, that portrayal appears to not be as accurate as they would have you believe.

It has been reported that Biden has fits of rage where he lashes out as his aides and demands hours of debate from policy experts before reaching a decision, The New York Times reported.

“Mr. Biden is gripped by a sense of urgency that leaves him prone to flares of impatience, according to numerous people who regularly interact with him,” the Times said. “The president has said he expects to run for a second term, but aides say he understands the effect on his ability to advance his agenda if Republicans regain power in Congress next year.”

“What emerges is a portrait of a president with a short fuse, who is obsessed with getting the details right — sometimes to a fault, including when he angered allies and adversaries alike by repeatedly delaying a decision on whether to allow more refugees into the United States,” it said.

Quick decision-making is not Mr. Biden’s style. His reputation as a plain-speaking politician hides a more complicated truth.

Before making up his mind, the president demands hours of detail-laden debate from scores of policy experts, taking everyone around him on what some in the West Wing refer to as his Socratic “journey” before arriving at a conclusion.

Those trips are often difficult for his advisers, who are peppered with sometimes obscure questions. Avoiding Mr. Biden’s ire during one of his decision-making seminars means not only going beyond the vague talking points that he will reject, but also steering clear of responses laced with acronyms or too much policy minutiae, which will prompt an outburst of frustration, often laced with profanity.

Mr. Biden is gripped by a sense of urgency that leaves him prone to flares of impatience, according to numerous people who regularly interact with him. The president has said he expects to run for a second term, but aides say he understands the effect on his ability to advance his agenda if Republicans regain power in Congress next year.

“You become so hyperprepared,” former Biden speech writer Dylan Loewe said. “‘I’ve got to answer every conceivable question he can come up with.’”

In March, Biden went off on at Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra because of the department’s handling of migrant children.

“Some advisers who are new to Mr. Biden’s orbit have been on the receiving end of his anger in recent weeks.

During a meeting on March 30 in the Oval Office, the president lashed out at Xavier Becerra, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, for failing to have answers to his questions about the agency’s ability to take care of migrant children, according to two people familiar with the exchange, The Times said.
The border crisis has been an embarrassment to the Biden administration, with three top Democrats recently taking it to task for its handling of the situation.

“While I share President Biden’s urgency in fixing our broken immigration system, what I didn’t hear tonight was a plan to address the immediate crisis at the border, and I will continue holding this administration accountable to deliver the resources and staffing necessary for a humane, orderly process as we work to improve border security, support local economies, and fix our immigration system,” Democrat Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly said.

“Sen. Sinema has been clear that she — along with Sen. Kelly — wants to see more action from the administration to address the border crisis and support Arizona border communities. She’s spoken directly with administration officials on this,” the office of Democrat Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema said to Fox News.

And the biggest stunner was Democrat Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono who appeared on the PBS show “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover” where the host asked “Will The senator said that she would “of course” ask Harris to do her job and visit the border. And she said that she “didn’t know” why Harris had not yet done so.

“We have a few other things to deal with, like the pandemic and everything else, so I’m not going to point fingers at her in the sense of — I hope that she will go down to the border,” the senator said. “I hope that we can have a comprehensive, ‘whole of government’ approach to what we need to do to have a humane immigration system.”

“I would call it a crisis,” she said of the migrant surge that is currently taking place at the Southern border.

“We know what is happening,” she said. “So whatever you call it, we’re going to need to deal with it. We’re going to need to address it in a humane way.”
