I didn't think you were, I was just pointing out that in light of variants and infectivity in younger kids vs original strains, re-opening now is if anything riskier. I think any declaration of reaching herd immunity is debatable, but if you really do think we will be there very soon then perhaps reopening now is not the best way to interpret this information
I don't know about immense, but it is significant and this is an argument to reopen (and to have reopened sooner frankly) if it can be done safely (I think it can - my daughter is older - middle school - and has been full time all along. Of course it is a private school w many more resources, but we should have ideally provided those resources from the get go. we are spending trillions, this would have been a round off error probably. quarantining after every break, proof of negative covid prior to being allowed back, etc.)
I think we are coming to the same conclusions here JBOG but just from a different angle
