Not exactly an apples to apples comparison but also look at big trial wins or settlements within the field of patent infringement. VHC comes to mind with 2 trial wins against AAPL for $450 million and $500 million. Keep in mind a trial win is usually larger than a settlement. S&G also had a big settlement with MSFT about 20 years ago where they were seeking about $1.5 or $1.6 billion and settled for $275 million.

Companies always ask for too much knowing they won't get all of what they are seeking. This is why the settlements are significantly below the amounts seen in a trial win. The trial win is an all or nothing deal. So when folks here are predicting
billion dollar settlements it's a bit of a stretch. There may be a billion + of infringement but that doesn't necessarily equate to a billion dollar settlement.
