50mg/ml is a concentration as you say (not a dosage).
To me it suggests a weight of brilacidin to a volume of water.

As a measurement it's the same as 50,000mg/1L.

50,000mg = 50grams = about 1.8ounces.

1.8ounces of a solid or a powder is a lot to put into a litre of liquid....except maybe when it's Koolaid.
