The market doesn't always "know".

Heck biotechs are known as binary stocks precisely because the market knows that they don't know most of the time with violent moves in either direction post results.

Just look at AMRN after REDUCE IT. If the market knew the share price would have been above $10 due to indicative trials like JELIS before the official PR.
