FWIW, I run a scan at each year end. It filters the ‘all stocks universe’ for key patterns/TA setups (listed under 'candidates') amongst the highest dollar volume leader stocks plus a few small cap bios. These are equity pattern setups that have developed during the past few weeks as the year end approached, indicating (fund?) accumulation (on the heels of tax loss activity) for their 2021 portfolios. They are worth keeping an eye on.

Not sure if these industry groups will set the tone for the whole year or not. If so, best performers will be gold/silver stocks(juniors), crypto stocks, computer services, real estate operations. Three of these 5 groups are defensive. Rough year ahead? I hope not.
