Here is my guess at what happened. The market makers were instructed weeks ago to start accumulating shares. They were told how many shares would be required by the different index funds. The selling price would be the average cost paid by the market makers times a factor. The factor was probably of the order of 1.05-1.1. The big jump in volume and price indicates the final trade(s) of the day which were the market makers unloading all the shares they had accumulated.

In my opinion, the real market price, the price at which the stock will probably open on Monday morning, is about 5-10% below its closing price today.
