These are the two things I feel I know for certain.

1.) Anavex is wary of lawsuits as evidenced but their cautiousness after the earlier spate of lawsuits.

2.) Anavex announced results showing clinically meaningful, dose-dependent, and statistically significant improvements in the Cognitive Drug Research computerized assessment system analysis.

Unfortunate, sad, but probably a fair assessment for the confused read of PDD trial information. Also observe that, if after 2 days of review, the experts here are having difficulty assessing pass/fail then we should not expect the rest of the world to get it either. Not yet the AHAAA MOMENT that we expected/waited for.

The selected choice to label this as, "Proof of Concept" does serve to scale back the drama and obligate us to look deeper for something. You offer a good explanation as to why ,"proof of concept" was used to describe the work.

It's true that we may have expected more than what has been shown so far, at least in black and white terms. Since none of this has ever been done before maybe we need to unwind a little and let reality get synched up w/expectations. The facts are this has never been done before and as such the exact sequence on how to measure what's next is unknown. Often, in a lab staring at results one can lose track of time and outside world relevance. Time to get synched up and declare status b/c the rest of us are clueless (evidence discussions on comparisons to established systems expectations/waypoints).

So, here we go, we have established the earth is really round. So far, so good. Now what happens? After you do not fall off the edge that is? We have established by deduction that this must be the correct path. Fighting/curing medical-clinical symptoms gets us (human race) nowhere. Being uncertain on a path that has never been proven is an acceptable human flaw , HEY, call it, "proof of concept". until we figure out what to say.

For all we know, we may have won and do not yet recognize that not failing is winning when something like this has never been done before. (proof of MOA is hard) Define this as winning properly and move on, even if no one else gets it yet. W/S has to get it's shat in one pile first, before they can value AVXL.

The good news is our opponents have taken the bait and will look even more uninformed than they usually do. They have no idea what AVXL is doing but cannot come right out and say that. BTW, the results from BIIB's latest technology disaster make them look even more anal on their current (we have to bleed you to save you) path.
