No, usually leach pads are there forever. But you do have to chemically neutralize the material (in-place) so that it doesn't keep leaching out cyanide and toxic metals for years and years. And here in the U.S. environmental permits usually require long term monitoring of storm water and groundwater. I am sure the Mexican authorities have some post-closure requirements, but doubt they are as stringent, especially for such a small operation.

If you had to take the leached material and move it somewhere, it would drive mining costs out the roof.

As for the share price, yeah it survived the first day of dumping pretty well, but that's what the PR was designed to do. The lenders probably converted at half of what they are selling at, so they're probably pretty happy. But give it two weeks of daily dumping, and see what happens. $42K in converted shares takes a while to dump without totally crashing the share price.

Do your own research, use third-party sources, and don't buy into the hype.
