You don't need any shares to sell puts you just need a sufficient cash balance to cover the put should you end up taking assignment (being PUT the shares)!

One contract equals 100 shares. It's a great way to buy shares at a lower price or in most cases you simply collect the premium you sold. You can lower your cost bases over time.

My Procedure is to use the weekly option chain to make money weekly. I usually roll into the next week and collect more in 4 weeks time I generally collect about the quarterly dividend and if I get put stock I just switch and sell calls!

My goal is to have 1000 shares at zero cost bases!
