Dylan has said a lot of things that he doesn't necessarily believe and that he knows aren't true. When he first got to the Village, he told people that he had been traveling with and working at a carnival. He had actually been at the U. of Minnesota. I would/you would have to go back through the many interviews, articles, and books to see what I mean.

In the 60 Minutes interview, he does not say that he made a deal with the Devil. He said he made a deal with the Chief Commander of the seen and unseen worlds. He recorded 3 Christian albums from 1979-1981. Slow Train Coming, Saved, Shot of Love. He knows that the Chief Commander is God.

How do you know that "60 minutes chose to delete a portion of the audio when Dylan said 'I made a bargain with the Devil"?

Dylan can be all over the place with his mind. I don't know why he recorded Jerry Garcia's "Friend of the Devil".

He also once said something like, "If I weren't Bob Dylan, I would think that Bob Dylan had a lot of answers (to questions about life), but I don't." So, bottom line, he can be unsure about himself and what he says. He often contradicts himself judging by the face of his words.

You're probably aware of his song Serve Somebody. "It may be the Devil, or it may be the Lord, but you're gonna have to serve somebody".
