Mick_Z, The_problem for_Pinera became_URGENT and_stone clear_last week
for this tin-pot midget and his ass-kissing lackey Jolly Green Giant ribbon-cutting oaf Baldo. It cost Pinera/Codelco $2.35 to mine and produce one pound of Copper. Copper is actually selling at $2.20/pound now and things are not going to get any better for 2 months easily minimum. On top of this horrible new reality negative $.15 profit/pound situation The Chilean GDP is going to drastically decrease a ball-breaking 12% for the second quarter

Cash cow Codelco has the biggest/easiest tits to milk for public welfare and graft and Pinera knows it, hence the reason he reluctantly finally told them last week to get their overweight lazy whitey ass moving on the Codelco "diversification" program which includes adding lithium into the portfolio even though Codelco hates anything lithium. Pinera needs (ie is desperate for) fresh new money income and he (plus all the Chilean riff-raff/hanger-ons/politicians) focking well know it with perfect clarity now after the JP Morgan 2nd quarter financial projection went viral today.

On top of this macro-evolving situation in Chile where mining companies are leaving rather than coming in (eg Lithium Chile gave up on lithium and WML is probably next), the World (including iconoclast Trump) has seen the beautiful clear blue skies over Beijing click here during this corona-virus plague, and no one (especially no government) is going back to fossil-burning fuel cars after this blue-skies wake-up call. Lithium battery powered cars are in the driver's seat from now on. Codelco had their epiphany, then finally "saw the light" on lithium and at Pinera's prodding they are diving into their side of the Maricunga property to see if they can strengthen their bargaining position/leverage over nuts-squeezing Martin Borda by claiming they too have "mine-able" lithium IN THE GROUND. Two things could and most likely will happen here that will cut Codelco's balls right out of their scrotum sacks. One they will discover that their lithium in the ground on their property is too-thin/too-spread out costing upwards of $5,500/tonne to mine and consolidate from larger areas into one pretty nice delicious compact tonne and secondly that the scamming/blackmailing elements in SEA and/or the fascist deep-state are going to pull the plug on test-case ongoing/incremental water-use questions/permissions posed by Codelco which will then auto-trigger the panic-button at Codelco signalling they are going to get focked for building another desalination plant on the coast or locally to "MAKE" sweet water for the locals. Our SEA approval does not have such a requirement... so to answer your question on Codelco pulling the plug on the exploration study before the 10 months duration is up... well my answer is Yes they will terminate the study early at the first hint of having to build a desalination plant and the next day they will lower their old percent participation demand to less than 49% in the MsBodelco JV which Martin will accept. To see which way the wind is blowing as Bob Dylan would say, we simply only need to watch each time Codelco asks SEA a water test question (which I estimate will be once a month from now on) until SEA cuts them off at the knees with a No answer on using water from the continent.
