Speaking of a long, lingering painful death; the turnaround of the ship off the coast or cancellations of medical conferences are not a consequence of newsal histrionics; the are a reaction to a previously unknown risk factor by those informed and charged with making the right decision.

The emotional reaction to that is possibly overstated. Unless you skip that weekend get together and those who don't end up sick and some in the hospital.

Since I was exposed to a transfusion from a blood bank back inna day when nothing was known and everything was feared, I made it a point to stay current on HIV in the blood supply and population up until enough was known to come to terms with it. Made a world of difference in my attitude. We had a kid open up his arm with a sawzall a coupla years before I retired. I could now look at the severity of the injury and judge the risks to me in taking a minute or two getting the proper PPE or closing off an artery unprotected and getting him off the side of a building. I was not the closest, but the guy who was and I had talked about what we were going to tell our crews about responding to the need for critical first aid.

The difference will be when the Pacifico Virus is old news, not when everybody understands it is a conspiracy. AMRN will be collateral damage for a while.
