Over 1500 BABA International INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS seems to understand the truth about BABA world dominance and have enough knowledge and trust in BABA to invest thousands of BILLION dollars in it with lucrative YoY profit.

Solid DD always beat the "BABA will be slaughtered" nonsense joke against the company.

Security BABA / Alibaba Group Holding Limited (01609W102)
Finpedia Article Alibaba Group Holding
Institutional Owners 1528 (44 N-Q Owners)
Institutional Shares 4,018,339,919 (ex. N-Q)
Institutional Value $ 4,920,538,352,000 USD (ex. N-Q)

The IPO is for near 400 million middle class Chinese to be able to have the opportunity to buy BABA shares in their own country (through Hong Kong Exchange) FOR THE FIRST TIME in their history.

"The Chinese e-commerce giant has postponed its previously planned Hong Kong listing..."

"It would be very unwise to launch the deal now or anytime soon," a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. "It would certainly annoy Beijing by offering Hong Kong such a big gift given what's going on in the city."
The listing has been a point of interest for investors seeking to gauge the business environment in Hong Kong. Losing Alibaba's IPO would be a big hit to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

"A stock split, of course, divides an existing share – along with its price – into smaller pieces. With this it establishes a new, lower baseline for the stock. It's very possible that Alibaba wants to do this in order to establish a relatively inexpensive point of entry for retail investors so they can have ready access to the company in a Hong Kong IPO."

"HONG KONG (AP) — Ronald sacrificed his lunchtime to join the protest in a Hong Kong park. He quivered at the prospect of communing with hundreds of like-minded office workers stirred by the organizers' rallying cry, "Revolution is a duty!" He was on time. He was wearing a new black face mask. He was fired up. He was ready.

He was also utterly alone.

Let's say at the time BABA is forward splitting 1:8 in 2020, I have 1000 shares of BABA and the price is $160.

After the forward split, I will have 1000 x 8 = 8000 shares of BABA at $20 each no matter which country I live in. So, basically I have the same $$ amount in my account. But, what this does is it will help Chinese retail investors be able to own BABA in their country at a much more affordable price.

With the Chinese retail buying momentum next year, the stock price can easily move up to say 50% (just a random number to make the point). This will take the stock price to $30 dollars.

Now, imagine how hard it is for BABA with the current price a little above $160, at the moment, to go up 50%!

That would be $240 per share! Very hard to get to in a short time when only Institutional investors can afford such price.

But, it will be much easier to get to $30 per share from $20 when near 400 million middle class Chinese be able to buy it next year at around $20.

Now, back to your question of whether the price will be $20 per share here in U.S. Exchange as well.

The answer is Yes and here is an example as to why.

If the price becomes $20 on say Hong Kong Exchange next year and still $160 (roughly) here on U.S. Exchange then some can sell their shares in U.S. exchange and buy shares of BABA in Hong Kong Exchange at 1/8 of the price.

That is why the price of a stock balances out quickly on different exchanges across the world (after taking into account the currency exchange rates). There is a system in place that does this.
Confused, shocked and more than a little sad as he gazed unbelieving around the empty park with a grand total of exactly one protester — him"
