What stability issues are you referring to?

The stability issues were found by Extreme Tech. The issues may be minor as Extreme Tech says, but no OEM would sell a system with known "minor stability" issues. The warranty work would kill their reputation and cost far more than any profits could recover.

This is still a fairly early build of the OS, too. Currently, only DirectX 8.1 is supported, so we couldn't run any applications that need DirectX 9. Even some DirectX 8 applications had issues. For example, Dungeon Siege crashed with an ugly "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" error, forcing a system reboot in the process. When we tried to run 3DMark 2001SE using software T&L, the system crashed with the same error, although the benchmark ran fine with hardware T&L enabled. It's difficult to determine if these are fundamental O/S issues, or simply driver related. We used a GeForceFX 5900 Ultra, and the reported driver revision was 50.40, an early build of the Detonator 50 driver.

...

We did encounter some minor stability issues during testing – on occasion, when we initiated a soft reboot of Windows, the system would power down instead. The only way to bring the system back to life was to disconnect power for about 20 seconds.
