My niece started her first gig as a sports reporter at wymt in Hazard.

Oh, man! I'm old enough to remember when there was nothing but narrow back roads over there in the eastern Kentucky hills and mountains. It would take nearly a whole day to drive from Bowling Green to Hazard and "Bloody Harlan"!!! When stopping to ask for directions, I even had trouble understanding their 'mountain dialect'. Talk about speaking 'country'!!!

Things have totally changed today. Now, there are slick 4 lane highways cutting through those hills and I can get there in less than 3 hours, they have McDonald's and Walmarts, and they now speak a better form of Hillbilly English and now you can understand them!

A bygone era in such a short time!
