Stranded in the desert
This place looked really cool, especially with the Eco cabins and the teepees! But the management of this place is a bit scatterbrained, so be warned about your reservation. I booked this place before online booking was available. I had a hard time getting someone to call me back so I just kept calling. When I did reach someone, I made a reservation for two nights. My kids, my husband and I were all super excited to be sleeping in a teepee! Oh, and by the looks from the photos, it was going to be great!

About a week before our travels, I emailed them to confirm our reservation. The next day, I got an email response saying that my reservation was canceled. They basically completely overrode our reservation so that they could accommodate this huge 4/20 event. They did offer us a free campsite, but then we would have to bring all of our camping gear, which made no sense for 2 nights (this was part of a longer trip). We had no recourse at all and nowhere to stay!

They asked if we could change our dates. Well, we could have if they had given us more notice, as I'm sure they knew about the 4/20 event at least a week before we found out about it! With only 1 well notice, Nipton didn't give us enough notice to make other arrangements. I wonder if I hadn't emailed them if they wouldn't even have told us. That means we would have shown up in the middle of the desert in the evening with no where to stay!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. If you want to be sure to have a reservation, you should stay somewhere else. You don't want to be in the desert with no where to stay. This place looks really cool, and we were really excited about it, but they basically screwed us on a reservation to accommodate a larger party. It's not very hospitable for being in the hospitality industry and it was a big downer for our trip. The owner, Don, tried emailing, calling and texting but kept bailing on the times we were supposed to chat. I finally gave up trying to get in touch, especially since I was on vacation and in the desert with spotty reception.

This sort of behavior has no recourse, so at least I want other people to know before they book. IF YOU INSIST ON STAYING HERE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO BOOK 2 SPOTS AND CANCEL THE SECOND ONE AS YOU GET CLOSER TO THE DATE
