OT: Couldn't disagree more with this professor gal. It's typical, centralized thinking. It's like saying the Soviet Union fell because their leaders should have been arranged in groups of three for more efficiency. The real reason was the entire structure was deeply flawed.

There is already a free market movement well under way that is transforming healthcare and it involves eliminating all the nonsense middlemen and needless "insurance" paperwork. Under the current bloated system, doctors spend nearly half their time filling out paperwork and needless codes. The reason there's a doctor shortage is becuz smart people don't want to go into the current system that is filled with bloat and bureaucracy.

The doctor needs to work for, and be paid by, the patient -- with no middlemen.

Dr Keith Smith of the Surgery Center of Oklahoma is one of the pioneers of this movement. Transparent, upfront pricing, disclosed in advance. Call and you can have your surgery done tomorrow by the best surgeons in Oklahoma who love working at his free market facility.

For day to day doctor stuff, Direct Primary Care is the free market solution taking hold. Dr Josh Umbehr is one of the leaders here. Patient pays the doctor, no middlemen, no insurance.

Watch some videos by those two. There are many others. Nearly all these doctors are resigning from medicare and don't take insurance. And it's wayyyy cheaper.

The good guys encourage competition and a free market. The bad guys are the ones who say "the govt needs to implement my one brilliant idea which will solve everything!"
