I think it goes from the patent date, which is even sooner than that.

The filing was only in Canada ( Not US ) so if they just went down the trial route, damages would be from earnings in Canada only. That said, that is in nobodys interest, as it solves nothing. Just paves the way to a US trial.

SNAP will want to settle this in ALL territories, and that is though agreement, not trial.
